RIO-84
Pharos RIO 84 Remote I/O Expansion Module
The Pharos RIO 84 (Remote Input/Output) module provides a flexible, scalable solution for expanding the I/O capabilities of your Pharos system for show control and third-party integration. Units can be deployed right where they are needed and linked to Pharos controllers over a standard Ethernet network. Each RIO 84 features a versatile multi-protocol serial port supporting RS232, RS485, and DMX, alongside a combination of multi-functional digital/analog inputs and relay outputs. Requires Pharos Designer software version 2.16 or higher.

Integration
Each RIO 84 expands system capabilities by adding 8 dedicated input ports to connect components like sensors and physical switches. Its 4 relay outputs handle low-voltage switching to trigger external hardware. Additionally, the multi-protocol serial port manages incoming and outgoing commands via RS232 or RS485, or can be repurposed as a flexible remote DMX port.
Scalable
Easily scale your setup by networking multiple remote expansion modules together. Maximum device capacities and overall system limits vary based on the host controller selected.
Commissioning Software
Fully programmed and managed using complimentary Pharos software for macOS and Windows, with direct configuration updates delivered over Ethernet.
Multi-Protocol
Every RIO 84 includes an adaptable serial port with customizable parameters—including protocol (RS232 or RS485), baud rates, and parity settings—managed through software. Alternatively, the port can be assigned to transmit a full DMX512 universe or accept incoming DMX data for external triggering.
Installer Friendly
Engineered for fixed installations, offering straightforward wiring connectors, a compact footprint, and simple DIN-rail mounting.
Flexible Inputs
Inputs can be tailored individually across three operational modes: Contact Closure for interfacing with volt-free switches; Digital Input for tracking external DC voltages up to 24V with customizable high/low threshold triggers; and Analog Input for continuous voltage measurement across a defined range.
Relay Outputs
Utilizing fully isolated solid-state relays, the output channels deliver whisper-quiet operation and extended durability. Tailored for low-voltage, low-current switching applications (48V, 0.25A), they can also interface with standard third-party contactors when managing higher-power loads.
Power-over-Ethernet
Equipped with Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) capabilities, the RIO 84 can be installed anywhere along your network using a single cable to deliver both operating power and data communications.
Network Connectivity
Designed to seamlessly pair with any Pharos Designer Controller over a standard Ethernet network using standard protocols.
